The Rule of Law and European Values in the modern ages:
Human Rights in the Digital Age (3rd edn)
The School of Law of UCLan Cyprus is pleased to announce the online intensive course on Human Rights in the Digital Age in the CRoLEV Intensive Course Series entitled “The Rule of Law and European Values in the modern ages”.
The intensive 10-hour online course on “The Rule of Law and European Values in the modern ages: Human Rights in the Digital Age” is divided into five 2-hour sessions, presented through asynchronous sessions. Students may ask questions by getting in touch with the tutor.
The five sessions cover the following themes:
- Human rights and digital rights: conceptual changes and challenges. The fundamental values in the digital era.
- Human rights protection in the digital age: new dimensions and new threats. Business and human rights issues.
- Artificial intelligence and human rights. The EU approach to regulate AI.
- Algorithmic discrimination. AI-based decision-making and justice. Democracy, legitimacy and AI.
- AI and responsibility. Effective remedies and rights violations. Human rights centered approach in the digital age.

Module Tutor: Dr Yulia Razmetaeva
Yulia Razmetaeva, PhD in Law, is a Head of the Center for Law, Ethics and Digital Technologies and Associate Professor at the Department of Human Rights and Legal Methodology at the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University (Ukraine) and Researcher at the Centre for Multidisciplinary Research on Religion and Society at the Uppsala University (Sweden). She is the author of the books “Human Rights as a Fundamental Value of Civil Society” (2013) and “Doctrine and Practice of Human Rights Protection” (2018), as well as academic and analytical publications on human rights in the digital age, artificial intelligence, and challenges of digitization. Since 2022 she is a Project Leader of European Fundamental Values in Digital Era (101085385 – EFVDE – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH), a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence co-funded by the European Union. She has diverse experience in research, teaching, and human rights advocacy.
