Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility to the University of Prešov, in Slovakia.
In March 2025, Dr Katerina Kalaitzaki, Lecturer in EU Public Law at the School of Law and Senior Researcher at the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for the Rule of Law and European Values CRoLEV at UCLan Cyprus, had the pleasure and honour to visit the University of Prešov, Faculty of Arts and Humanities for her Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility. The mobility aimed to enhance student and academic learning experience at the host institution, as well as disseminate and exchange knowledge on the interplay between law and ethics in the areas of citizenship law, the rule of law principle and fundamental rights.
On this occasion Dr Katerina Kalaitzaki delivered a number of teaching sessions to the students on the topics of theories of citizenship and the rule of law, fundamental rights and dilemmas in law, and the interplay between fundamental rights and the rule of law. Beyond the teaching activities under the Erasmus+ mobility programme, students and staff had to opportunity to learn about aspects of the rule of law principle and how it is measured in the EU and beyond, including under the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence CRoLEV. At the same time Dr Kalaitzaki had the chance to meet and discuss with University colleagues on their activities and outputs at the University and common interests in research.
All had the opportunity to learn more about the interplay between law and ethics in the areas of citizenship law, the rule of law principle and fundamental rights as well as the work conducted at the School of Law of UCLan Cyprus, including under its EU-funded Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence CRoLEV. The teaching mobility and activities deriving from it have been a truly rewarding experience. UCLan Cyprus and CRoLEV are very grateful for this unique opportunity. Sincere thanks to Prof. PhDr. Vasil Gluchman and doc. Mgr. Ján Kalajtzidis from the Institute of Philosophy and Ethics for the warm welcome and assistance.
