Invitation: 3rd CRoLEV Workshop – Citizen Empowerment: Sustainable Rule of Law and European Values in Europe Series

Deliberative Democracy & Public Assemblies

The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for the Rule of Law and European Values (CRoLEV) at UCLan Cyprus, and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law, Alternative and Innovative Methods (ICLAIM) would like to invite you at the 3rd and final edition of its workshop series on Citizen Empowerment: Sustainable Rule of Law and European Values in Europe.

After investigating the relevance of non-formal dispute resolution initiatives to the sustaining of the rule of law in the first workshop in December 2022, and the introduction of the Council of Europe Participatory Democracy Academy in November and December 2023, in March 2025 we are turning our attention to recent trends in Deliberative Democracy, and the powerful impact of Public Assemblies.

This interactive workshop will bring together insights from the previous two workshops, while introducing an alternative third approach to the strengthening and the sustaining of the Rule of Law: Deliberative Democracy and Public Assemblies. The 12-hour workshop will take place over two days, briefly introducing participants to the relevant theoretical background, before asking them to test in practice two tools for public deliberation, based on questions introduced by the facilitators.
