The Rule of Law and European Values in the modern ages:
good neighbourliness in Europe in times of threats (3rd edn)

 

The School of Law of UCLan Cyprus is pleased to announce the online intensive course on Good neighbourliness in Europe in times of threats in the CRoLEV Intensive Course Series entitled “The Rule of Law and European Values in the modern ages”.

The intensive 10-hour online course on ‘The Rule of Law and European Values in the modern ages: good neighbourliness in Europe in times of threats’ is divided into five 2-hour sessions, presented through asynchronous sessions. Students may ask questions by getting in touch with the tutor.

The five sessions cover the following themes:

  1. Good neighbourliness in international law: nature, legal basis and contents
  2. Good neighbourliness in EU law: legal framework, interpretation and application
  3. Application of the principle of good neighbourliness in EU enlargement: dividedness and the rise of far-right within EU in time of threats
  4. Good neighbourliness and UK-EU relationship: resetting the relationship
  5. Good neighbourliness in EU enlargement: Eastern European countries and Western Balkans

The new intensive course will become available under Learning Resources > Didactic Material in November 2024.

Module Tutor: Dr Elena Basheska

Dr Elena Basheska is a Research Fellow at CEU Democracy Institute. She is a distinguished expert on the interpretation and application of the good neighbourliness principle in international law and EU law.

Elena holds LL.M. in European law and Ph.D. in law from the Faculty of Law, University of Groningen (The Netherlands).  Her research interests focus on international law, EU enlargement, EU external relations, rule of law, citizenship matters, and protection of human rights. She has extensive experience as a researcher, working in various sectors (including academia, NGOs, law firms and professional organisations), as well as an independent consultant.
